Why donate ?

Our impact

In 2000, inspired by the universal values of Buddhism, Matthieu Ricard founded Karuna-Shechen. Rooted in altruism in action, the organization supports marginalized communities in the Himalayan region so that they can take action, make decisions, and shape their own future.

Karuna-Shechen meets the basic needs of vulnerable populations by ensuring access to healthcare, food, water, and education. We promote self-reliance through economic development, women’s empowerment, and climate resilience, while strengthening social cohesion and local decision-making, to build communities that stand together and are able to shape their own futures.

Use of your donation

81.2% of our expenditures are allocated to our social missions.

The equivalents shown are for illustrative purposes only. Your donation supports a range of coordinated, ongoing programs. All donations are combined and allocated based on the most urgent needs. The effectiveness of our work depends on the trust you place in us in this regard.
